Over the past year, I have had the pleasure of being one of the non-fiction editors for The Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine. I love that the journal publishes stories, essays, and artwork of people in healthcare, be they providers, patients, or family members. The result is a collection of pieces that emerge from some pretty raw places in people's lives.
The process of reading and being in coversation over so many interesting essays is amazing. Several editors and leaders read each one, creating comments and, eventually, weighing in on what should be included. As with most literary journals, there are far too many submissions to include all of the worthy pieces.
